SOFTWARE: X-Win32 Version 9.0 for Windows

Description: X-Win32 is a X Windows server which runs on the 
Windows PC platform. X Windows provides for a Graphical User 
Interface for Unix systems. X-Win32 also integrates support for 
OpenGL-based X Windows applications. This product has been 
obtained on a site license through OIT. X-Win32 9 is a complete 
reimplementation of the product, including a new user 
interface, a new SSH implementation, and a new technology 
layer for drawing and displaying graphics on the screen. Some 
specific new features for version 9.0 include: 

*  New LIVE sessions allowing for session persistency.

   LIVE sessions are special sessions that allow session 
   persistency.  These sessions can be suspended and resumed at a 
   later time or terminated ending the session.  These sessions 
   allow for crash recovery should your connection get 
   inadvertently disconnected. 

   LIVE sessions require the LIVE server component to be installed 
   on the remote UNIX/Linux host in order to function. See below 
   for a link to where you can download the Live server component 
   for various platforms. Also see Xwin32 Help for more 
   information.  

*  Classic resize scrollbars added in single window mode.
*  Sessions can now be suspended and resumed and transferred to
   different computers without having to end a session. 
*  Upgraded Window Manager increases stability.
*  Single Window Mode can be resized.
*  Truetype font support added.

clicking on the X-Win icon in the system tray and selecting 
Support, then Release Notes. This also contains a complete list 
of bug fixes in Release 9.0. 

PLATFORM: IBM PC or compatible. 

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Microsoft Windows 2000 (SP 3) 
/XP/Vista/Windows 2003, 52 MB disk space. It is recommended that 
you have the latest service pack for your operating system. 

ELIGIBILITY: Faculty, staff and students. 

RESTRICTIONS: You may use this software only on OSU-owned 
equipment on the main and regional campuses and on home 
computers. This software is for use for university-related 
business. It is for use while you are affiliated with OSU and it 
must be left with your department and/or removed from your home 
computer when leaving OSU. 

PURCHASE: None required. 

COST WITHOUT SITE LICENSE ARRANGEMENTS: Academic price is $115.

DOCUMENTATION: Installation instructions are provided on the 
server web pages. The Help system provides an online quick 
reference to the software. In addition "XWin32 9.0 Install 
Notes.txt" is available with the download. It contains codes you 
will need to fully license your server.
