SOFTWARE: Variations3 Version 5.0.3 for Macintosh and Windows

DESCRIPTION: Variations allows users to listen to music files and scores. Variations is a digital music library software system that provides online access to streaming audio and scanned score images with a flexible access control framework. In addition to access tools, Variations also includes analysis and annotation tools.

The Indiana University Digital Library Program, with support from a National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services is extending the Variations digital music library system to other college and university libraries. This software is being made available via OIT Site Licensing services on the Software Download site at the request of the Ohio State University Music/Dance Library.

PLATFORM: Pentium II PC or higher; Macintosh with Intel processor or PowerPC G3.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

ELIGIBILITY: Faculty, staff and students.

RESTRICTIONS: The software is available to users at the main and regional campuses. It can be used only for purposes of classroom instruction, academic research and course work. It cannot be used for commercial purposes. A user licensed for an on campus computer may use a copy on their home computer.

PURCHASE: There is no fee for the software.

COST WITHOUT SITE LICENSE ARRANGEMENTS: This software is currently available as a test version and no academic pricing has been set.

DISTRIBUTION METHOD: The software is available electronically via OSU Software Downloads. To receive a download connect to the Software Downloads page at

http://osusls.osu.edu

and proceed to either the Windows or Macintosh menu.
