SOFTWARE: SPSS 16.0.1 for Mac OS X
DESCRIPTION: This is a comprehensive statistical analysis and 
data management system for Macintosh which runs in native mode on 
the Power Macintosh and Intel-based Macs. It can be used to 
generate tabulated reports, charts and plots of distributions and 
trends, descriptive statistics and complex statistical analyses. 
This version contains a number of improvements in the base including:
- Increased flexibility with a new Java user interface. This 
  allows for new function such as resizable dialogs, drag-and-drop 
  variable selection in dialogs and find and replace in the Output 
  Viewer.  
- Support for Unicode data, a spell checker for Variable labels 
  and Value labels, ability to configure the Variable View (only 
  show certain attributes), abiilty to sort the variable view by 
  variable name, type, format, etc., and find and replace in the 
  Data Editor.  
- Enhanced Generalized Linear Models and Generalized Estimating 
  Equations in the SPSS Advanced Models module.

SPSS Macintosh for faculty/staff and for lab use now includes the 
Base product, Advanced Models, Regression Models, Tables, Trends 
and Categories. SPSS for student home/laptop use includes SPSS 
Base, Advanced Models, Regression Models and Tables. 
PLATFORM: Power Macintosh G4 667 MHz or faster or Intel-based.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: MacOS X 10.4 or higher, including 10.5, 
running Java Standard Edition 5.0; 512 MB RAM; a hard disk with 800 
MB of free space, color monitor at 800 x 600 or better resolution. 
Safari 1.3.1 or higher, Firefox 1.5 or higher, Netscape 7.2 or 
higher. 
ELIGIBILITY: Faculty, staff and students. 
RESTRICTIONS: Faculty/staff: You may use this software on 
computers on main and regional campuses and at home for 
university-related business only. The full faculty/staff module 
configuration above may be installed in student labs on campus. 
Students: You may use copies of this software distributed 
directly to you on your personally-owned home or laptop computer 
only. It must be returned when you leave OSU and/or removed from 
your home computer. The license is owned by OSU. 
PURCHASE: Licenses are currently available at no charge. 
COST WITHOUT SITE LICENSE ARRANGEMENTS: The academic price for a 
single copy of SPSS Base, Advanced Models and Regression Models 
totals $1500. Tables and Trends are $499 and $399 each. 
DISTRIBUTION METHOD: Users will obtain SPSS in OIT Customer 
Services, 512 Baker Systems. You will receive the CD media and 
license codes. New faculty/staff users are required to fill out 
and sign the SPSS end user agreement and return it to OIT 
Customer Services, 512 Baker Systems, in order to receive the 
software. Student users will fill out the SPSS Student License 
agreement. These agreements are online at

Go to the SPSS 16.0.1 entry. Also, these may be filled out in 
Customer Services. 
Customer Services will accept a CD exchange for the SPSS media. You 
must provide a blank, CD-R, with white ink-jet printable label. 
Students must exchange media. Alternatively, faculty and staff may 
purchase the CD for $5 with a 100-W. The bookstore at Central 
Classrooms on Millikin Rd. stocks acceptable CDs. 
DOCUMENTATION: Installation instructions are provided with the 
distribution. There is also an online tutorial and a Statistics 
Coach. This is part of the Help that is installed. In addition 
"SPSS 16 Syntax Reference for Base, Regression Models and 
Advanced Models" is available through Help after installation.
