SOFTWARE: Autodesk 2010

DESCRIPTION: This is the latest edition of the Autodesk software purchased by the College of Engineering and distributed by the Office of Information Technology. OIT is making copies available to users outside of Engineering. These copies are available on an annual fee basis. This includes all maintenance for the year. Also, new versions are made available at no additional charge during the subscription year.

With this release, all current licenses are extended until August 31, 2010, as a result in licensing changes.

and then selecting a product grouping and product. At this point there is usually a link to see new features for that product. Alternatively, new features are also discussed in the Help menu after installation.

PLATFORM: Pentium 4/I or AMD Athlon/Dual Core at 3GHz or higher or equivalent. 32-bit and 64-bit supported.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows XP Pro, SP 2; 3 GB RAM; 250 GB disk space; 7200 RPM hard drive; DirectX 9.0c; OpenGL 2.0, 512 MB graphics memory, 1280x1024 32-bit colour display; Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher

ELIGIBILITY: Faculty and staff (including on-campus labs).

RESTRICTIONS: The software is a right-to-use copy only. When you are no longer affiliated with OSU, you must leave the software with your department. The software must be used only for instruction and research at OSU. The software is available for use on the main and all regional campuses.

PURCHASE: New users: You can purchase an annual subscription to the Autodesk software suite listed above for $90. The fee allows use of the above-mentioned software on one computer through August 31, 2010. At that time you will need to renew any copies you want to continue to use. Please provide information on the number of subscribed licenses and the specific platform, Windows XP, Windows 2000, etc., and whether standalone AutoCAD licenses(limited to one machine) or network licenses. Please ensure an updated license agreement accompanies payment.

Existing users: you will pay the same fees as noted above to renew your copy. If you purchased your copy on April 1, 2009 or thereafter you do not need to renew until August of 2010. Please ensure an updated license agreement accompanies payment.

COST WITHOUT SITE LICENSE ARRANGEMENTS: An academic package for AutoCAD is available at $170 for a one year subscription. 3D Studio Max with Character Studio is about $180 for a one year subscription; Autodesk VIZ, Inventor and Architectural Desktop are $160 each, for a one year subscription. None of these alternative licenses include upgrades, which the OSU license includes.

DISTRIBUTION METHOD: The software is available for loan out for 3 working days at the IT Service Desk (025 Central Classrooms). Please call ahead at 8-help to confirm availability of a loan set.
