Journal Entry, Inquiry, and Approval
Course Description:
This course is an introduction to the General Ledger system. It explains the different types of journal entries and how to process them; inquiry tools; timesaving features; and use of workflow. Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Enter and process journal entries, interdepartmental billings, and pre-encumbrances.
- Copy and reverse journals.
- Use the inquiry tools.
- Use timesaving features.
- Approve journals using Workflow.
- Resolve journal edit errors.
Prerequisites:
Basic computer skills: Windows and a Web browser (Internet Explorer is preferred).
Introduction to OSU Administrative Systems: pre-training information available on the Administrative Systems, Human Resources and Financials web site. Recommended for new users of the Administrative Systems.
Course Length:
5 1/2 hour Instructor-led course in a computer lab with hands-on practice.
Audience:
This course is recommended for all fiscal personnel who will enter financial transactions into the university's General Ledger system.
