Introduction to Your Business Responsibilities at OSU

Course Description:

This is the first in the Financial Training and Documentation series. It explains the basics of university fiscal operations and business operations and the ethical responsibilities of university fiscal personnel. The following topics are presented:

  • University structure and key University business areas.
  • Stewardship and ethics.
  • The Financials and HR systems.
  • The chartfield.
  • Controls.
  • What happens during the fiscal year.
  • Some "pitfalls".
  • Systems and reports.
  • Available help.

Prerequisites:

None.

Course Length:

4-hour instructor-led in a classroom setting.

Audience:

This course is recommended for any employee with fiscal or human resurce responsibilities. It is REQUIRED for all employees whose user role in the online system (PeopleSoft Financials and HR) includes approval responsibilities.
